It is the responsibility of each walker to make sure they understand where to park. If you are not sure where the car parking/meeting point is, you must contact the walk leader at the latest the day before the walk. You should not rely on mobile phones or postcodes. There is often no mobile reception near walk meeting points and postcodes are for the nearest place nearby but should only serve as a guideline. Please allow plenty of time to find a parking space so that walks can start promptly.
Description: Our first stop is immediately going to Crow Park Hill (the best little hill ever) as it has the perfect view of Derwent Water and views of the northeastern fells, Skiddaw and Blencathra. Very little effort for a very small hill for very good views.
Afterwards we will aim for Fitz Park, then go along the abandoned railway track for a bit heading eastwards until there is path that goes under the under A66. We start heading back towards Keswick taking quiet country roads to get to Castlerigg Stone Circle. The stone circle is another brilliant vantage point.
After this we go along Castle Lane, go past Castlerigg Farm, and then descend and go along a street that looks out to Castlehead Wood (a small wooded hill), then go past St John’s Church and pick up paths that go on a beeline back to Lakeside Car Park.
This is a gentle amble with a minimum of both ascent and gradient. Following this there is the group dinner at Piri Fresco that starts at 5.30pm and I have booked a table for 12.
