Description: Departing Glenridding, we’ll leave the lakeshore behind after the opening section and gradually climb along wooded slopes and lower ridges, with occasional open fell views and glimpses of Ullswater below.
The path winds through moorland and old tracks, sometimes boggy or muddy underfoot but not too tricky, and we’ll cross minor ridges before descending toward the lower ground and rejoining more riverside paths into Pooley Bridge.
The final stretch is more relaxed, allowing us to soak up views, listen to water, and unwind. The autumn colours may linger, and with luck the skies will display reflections in the lake … or dramatic clouds overhead.
Out of season, this is not the foodie paradise of Ullswater Way Part 1 … bring a packed lunch, hot thermos and plenty of water.
