Route description:

A walk up to the summit of Lingmoor Fell in the centre of the Langdale Valleys. From the car park, we head towards Great Langdale Campsite and take the steep zig zag path up to the Blea Tarn Road, From here it is a gradual climb up to the summit of Lingmoor Fell, with a visit to Side Pike on the way. After the summit we traverse the fell ridge and drop down to Baisbrown Wood and old quarry mines, and into the village of Chapel Stile. We will stop at Brambles Cafe for drinks and food (as you prefer). After the cafe its a level walk back to the car park along the
Great Langdale valley floor, followed by an optional drink at the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel.

Things to note:

The walk will have a social element, as it will include a cafe stop. You are welcome to bring your own lunch if you wish – we will stop at the summit (or where there is shelter), equally you may decide to hold out and have lunch at the cafe.

Health and Safety/Weather:

As always please dress to the weather conditions. November often brings lots of rain, and wind, and ground conditions by late autumn are usually very sodden with rivers and streams in spate, and lots of waterlogged ground. Waterproofs and good footwear are essential. The walk itself is mostly on good paths, and there is little in the way of boggy ground, but the valley floor could have some large puddles – so bear in mind. Warm clothes are essential as well, hat, gloves, spare pair of socks may come in handy. Windchill effect on the tops can make you cold very quickly. As a precaution, it is advisory to also bring a head torch, given light levels rapidly diminish not long after 4pm come November.

Contact:
If you would like to join the walk, please contact Damian on number removed by no later than 9pm on Saturday 16 November. You can also email the summit good email address. The walk leader has the right to vary or cancel the walk due to circumstances.
