From Hartsop car park we head up the bridle way towards Hayeswater. Just before the dam we cross the stream and follow that path that will take us up the hill to intercept the Coast to Coast track. This takes us north around the base of Rest Dodd and to Angle Tarn and from here the path drops slightly to Boredale Hause. From the Hause we begin our final ascent to the summit of Place Fell overlooking Ullswater. Our route then follows the ridgeline from the summit before our descent steepens and takes us down to the Ullswater Way. We will then follow this back around the foot of Place Fell back to Hartsop.

Please bring a headtorch as we will be short of daylight hours and potentially could be walking as we start to lose the light.

Please bear in mind that strenuous walks through the winter months will be relatively faster paced due to the limited time until sunset, so do think about fitness requirements.  Contact the walk leader if you wish further information.

Distance: Approx 11 miles

Time: Approx 6-7 hours
