Description: From the car park head left along the old track to the A591 bridge, cross over and take the stile on the right hand side. Follow the path and bear left inclining steeply up through a stand of Scots pine trees onto Wren Crag, normally a lovely view from here down Thirlmere and across to Castle Rock. Descend into the dip then following the undulating and often boggy terrain the top of High Rigg. Follow the obvious grassy path down to the north to meet the road that runs past St John’s Church. Past the church take the gate on the right onto a track that leads along the foot of the fell. This track has some erosion and storm damage from the past few winters. Follow this track along the back of Sosgill and Low Bridge End above St John’s Beck and back round to the stile at the start.
